The Story With Classics
Classics are books that can often seem like an intimidating read before you begin reading. A classic is a book that has been around for quite some time, but is still a very popular read.
Many people feel pressured to read classic books because they think that they are the kind of books that their parents or teachers want them to read.
There are many things about classics that make them such good books, but there are also some things that make classics intimidating and sometimes difficult to read.
We decided to make a list that takes you through the high points and low points of classic books today.
High points
A book has to be very popular to become a classic, so all classics are in genres that many people have been [and still are!] enjoying it..
Classics usually have strong characters who make good choices, and, when they do get into bad situations, they get through them together while each person puts the work in. For these reasons and more, the characters are usually positive role models
Most classic books are of a reasonable length of between two hundred and four hundred pages long, so they are of medium size in the book world.
The authors of classics are often very popular authors of their time, so, if you really enjoy a classic book, then there will probably be books of a similar style by the same person for you to read as well.
These are just the main attractions to reading classics in our opinions. There are many other high points in our list.
Low Points
Classics were written quite a long time ago, so some of the sayings are a little bit out of date, which can make them quite hard to read. It can also mean that the reader can pick up some of the sayings that have been dropped from our language.
In classics, they can be a bit sad because, in many classics, one of the main characters is either injured or someone dies. This one doesn’t apply to all classic books, only some of them.
The authors of classic books are often trying to pull through a positive message. This can be a good thing or a bad thing. A good thing because it can help us to improve ourselves but, it is also a flaw because it can make a book be a little bit boring if you are being preached at the whole time.
Often the authors of classics don’t really add that much mystery or tension to their books because they think that it would make the book too complicated. We are lucky because there are few exceptions, like Enid Blyton, who spice classic books up a bit.
